The Dolphin S300 is part of Maytronics S series robotic pool cleaner range. It packs many of the same features as the Dolphin S50 and the Dolphin S200 robotic pool cleaner, plus a few extras.
But the question is are these added features worth the extra cost?
Well we’ll have all the answers and more below as we take an in-depth look at the Dolphin S300 robotic pool cleaner to see if its price matches its design, and performance.
Dolphin S300 Quick review
The Dolphin S300 is a versatile robotic pool cleaner designed ideally for in-ground pools of up to 50ft in length, of any shape, and surface type. It is able to clean all areas of the pool, including up to the waterline thanks to it patented PowerStream mobility. This works by propelling water out in different direction through multiple jets, which in return creates constant suction to the pools surface minimising any slippage.
The S300i comes equiped with a 60ft anti-tangle swivel cable which has multiple buoys attached to it. These buoys keep the cord afloat on the pools surface which in return prevents any tangling, making the Dolphin S300 reliable to be left to clean unsupervised.
The Dolphin S300 has an upgraded filter system that uses an extra large filter basket, unlike previous Dolphin models like the Dolphin Nautilus CC which uses filter cartridges. These basket are able to contain more debris, and are easier to remove and clean.
The S300 features the MyDolphin App which allows you to take your automatic pool cleaning to the next level. Through this app you are able to set weekly cleaning schedules, and cycle times, however it does not have the delayed start mode, or the full bag indicator like the Dolphin Sigma.
If you’re looking at purchasing the Dolphin S300i it will cost you around $1399 from your local Dolphin supplier.

Pros:
- Cleans all areas of the pool
- Large filter basket
- Bluetooth connectivity
- Comes with caddy
- Weekly timer
- Anti-tangle cable
Cons:
- Expensive
- Can be difficult to control through the app

Now lets dive a little deeper into the features of the Maytronics Dolphin S300i.
Dolphin S 300i key features
Quick water release system
As you may already know removing a pool robot from a pool can be a difficult task. This can be due to the cleaner being full of water, or its heavy design. The Dolphin S300 fixes both of these issues thanks to its quick water release system, which drains any excess water through a flap at the bottom while it’s being removed from the pool. And its lightweight design making it an easy pool cleaner to remove and transport.
PowerStream Mobility
Thanks to its Powerstream mobility the Dolphin S300i is able to clean all areas of the pool with ease. This mobility system works by propelling water through multiple jets in different directions which create maximum suction to any pool surface. This makes the S300i a master wall climber, allowing it to clean right up to the waterline.
CleverClean Navigation
CleverClean navigation works by the Dolphin S300 systematically scanning your pool using different algorithms to find the optimal cleaning path. This ensures no areas of the pool are missed, or the same area isn’t cleaned twice, allowing for the most efficient clean possible. This navigation also allows the S300i to manoeuvre around any objects in its way, and return to its original cleaning path.
Anti-tangle swivel cabel
If you’ve owned a robotic pool cleaner before, then you’ll know there’s nothing more annoying than returning to your pool only to find your cleaner tangled around it own cord. Not only are they difficult to remove and untangle, but you also have to start the cleaning cycle all over again.
Dolphin S300 uses 60ft anti-tangle swivel cable just like the Dolphin pool cleaner M400. Multiple buoys are attached to cord which keeps it afloat on the pools surface, while the swivel accommodates and offsets any tangling intention. In return this makes the Dolphin S300i reliable to be left to clean unsupervised.
Extra large top loaded filter chamber
Unlike older Dolphin models that use filter cartridges, the Maytronics Dolphin S 300 uses a large debris chamber which is designed to filter both fine, and ultra fine debris. This also allows the S 300i to accommodate more debris than other models that use filter cartridges. The filter chamber is also simple to remove and clean.
MyDolphin App
The MyDolphin App allows you to connect to the Dolphin S 300i through your smartphone or tablet. This app allows you to take your automatic pool cleaning to the next level by giving you the ability to set weekly timers, cycle times, and even control your Dolphin manually through your smart device. This gives you the freedom to still have your pool cleaned while you’re away from home, or out of town.
One thing to remember though is to never leave your cleaner in the pool for a period longer than a week.

Dolphin S300 Pool cleaner user reviews
While checking out reviews for the Dolphin S300i, it was clear to see there were mixed opinions about how good it really was. Many users were impressed with the cleaners ability to clean all areas of the pool, while some people said they had to put the Dolphin S300i through multiple cleaning cycles before they were satisfied.
There was some common ground however, and that was in regards to how easy the S300i was to setup and operate, and also how easy to remove and clean the filter chamber was.
There were also mixed feelings about the design and build quality, with some customers saying they had issues with parts breaking after 6 months, while other users reported no issues after owning the Dolphin S300 pool cleaner for 3 years.
Customers also really liked how the MyDolphin App gave them the ability to set weekly timers, and cycle times. But they did say that the “virtual joystick” feature if very delayed and not even worth using.

Dolphin S300 summary
I feel like the Dolphin S300 is a good robotic pool cleaner that packs some great features. It is simple to operate which makes it a good choice for first time owners of a pool cleaner, while its filters are easy to clean and remove.
It is able to clean all areas of the pool, including up to the waterline (although that might be debatable for some people), while its anti-tangle swivel cable makes it reliable to be left to clean unsupervised.
However there is one area that let it down for me, and that was the price. The reason being there are many other robotic pool cleaners available that pack similar features but come at a cheaper price, like the Dolphin Triton Ps, or the Dolphin Proteus DX4 robotic pool cleaner.
If you are looking to purchase a Dolphin S300 you’ll have to buy one from your local Dolphin supplier as won’t be able to find one anywhere on Amazon, or Ebay.
