Are manual battery powered pool vacuums worth it? or are you better off buying an automatic pool cleaner?
Today we’ll be checking out the specs, features, pros and cons of the popular Pool Blaster Max battery powered pool vacuum to see if it’s one worth adding to your shopping list, or if it’s a waste of time.
Who is the pool blaster max best suited for?
First of all, if you’re already struggling with finding time to clean your pool, then the Pool Blaster Max may not be the cleaner for you. If this is the case then you’re better off checking out something like an automatic pool cleaner.
The Pool Blaster Max is best suited for someone who is shopping on a budget, and has the extra time to spend cleaning their pool. If your pool is more prone to large debris like sticks, leaves, and acorns then this may be a good choice, If your pool is situated in a spot where it gathers large amounts of pollen or dust then this may not be a great choice.
Pool blaster max battery operated pool vacuum review
The Pool Blaster Max is a battery powered pool vacuum designed for both in-ground, and above-ground pools. It has a run time of up to 1 hour, and will take up to 4 hours to reach full charge. However when charging the unit for the first time you will need to charge it for 5 hours.
It features a lightweight and easy to assemble design, weighing only 5.5lbs, which makes it easy to hold on to for long periods of time. You can also connect it to a telescopic pole for added length, but this will need to be purchased at an extra cost.
Before submerging the Water Tech Pool Blaster into the water you’ll want to ensure the unit is turned on to prevent any damage. The vacuum does have a reminder sticker on the side of the cleaner though so you don’t forget. It’s also critical that you remember to put the silicone (which is provided) around the O-ring of the charging plug. This will ensure there’s a tight seal so water can’t get in.
The Pool Blaster Max uses a powerful P30 motor, which is also complimented by a decent sized 10.5” vacuum head that does a good job inhaling leaves and sticks without becoming blocked. This vacuum head also has a crevice nozzle which allows it to get into tight corners, and edges.
It also features a reusable multi-layered filter bag for both large, and fine debris. This filter bag has quite a small capacity though so if your pool has lots of debris in it you may be emptying it a few times. The water Tech Pool Blaster Max will also struggle with removing live algae from a pools surface, but will have no problem if the algae is dead.

Water tech pool blaster max user reviews
When reading over customer reviews, it was clear to see that there was a lot of positive feedback about the Pool Blaster Max.
Once of the most common positive points was made in relation to how great value for money the Pool Blaster Max was with one user saying
“Just received this item, and I am here to tell you that it is worth every penny. We have a very large in ground pool that goes from 4ft to 10ft. We had some roof and screen repair done recently and most of the debris was sand /roof gravel. It cleaned it all flawlessly. Did the whole pool on a single charge , recharged ,then touched up. Snaps right onto a standard skimmer net pole. No more hoses, cleaning filters, priming, ect.. . When you’re done, k
Just empty the basket, clean and dry then recharge. Could not be any easier Love it !!!“.
While another user said “This little vacuum performs way better than I expected, and as good as I’d hoped. I’ve used it twice now, for about 15 mins each, and have yet to recharge from its initial charge when I opened the box. Cleaned the filter bag twice during each use. It picked up seeds, sand, little rocks, a couple toys my kids had tossed in, 6 inch long pine needles by the bunches, and all the dead leaves. I am extremely impressed!“.
Not everyone reported a positive experience however with one user saying “While it worked I was satisfied with it. You have to move pretty slowly for it to pull up smaller debris, but it gets the job done. It’s just stopped holding a charge after one summer of regular use (2-3x a week). Can’t recommend with such a short life”.
